The cold wave continued across Kashmir on Friday even as the meteorological department of Jammu & Kashmir has predicted the dry weather for the next 3 days.
Sonam Lotus Director of J&K meteorological department said that “the weather in Kashmir will remain dry and enjoyable during next four days, even though night temperature may go down further but overall the weather will remain constantly dry until the end of this week,” he said.
The Srinagar city has recorded minus 6.3-degrees Celsius temperature while Tourist destination Pahalgam has recorded -8.5 degrees Celsius, Kupwara -6.4, Kokernag -4.0 and Gulmarg -9.5, respectively.
The Jammu city has recorded 4.8 degree Celsius; Banihal has recorded minus 1.6, Batote 2.5, Katra 7.7 and Bhaderwa 0.3 degree Celsius and Qazigund has recorded -6.1 degrees Celsius.
Currently Kashmir is under the grasp of a 40-day period of harshest winter known as ‘chilai kalan’ from 21 Dec to Jan 31. The ‘chilai kalan’ is followed by 20-day-long ‘chillai khurd’ and 10-day-long ‘chillai bacha.’
